Meet The Vinyl Doctor

The Passion Behind the Prescription

The Vinyl Doctor’ was born from passion, but it was cemented by a quest for clarity of sound.

Like many collectors, I’ve spent years hunting for treasures in charity shops, vinyl fairs, and online auctions. The joy of the find was real, but all too often, it was short-lived. I’d get home, put the record on the turntable, and… disappointment. Very few were ‘listenable’ straight away. Many, I had to stop the moment the stylus hit the groove.

I tried the standard ‘treatments’: carbon brushes, cloths with cleaning solutions. While they helped, some records simply remained unlistenable. The sound was compromised. That’s when I started my research. The decisive moment was rescuing a second-hand Traveling Wilburys album. That was ‘Patient Zero’—the one that convinced me to invest in an ultrasonic cleaning machine.

That was the moment Costi (the collector) met ‘The Vinyl Doctor’ (the specialist).

My vision for this space is clear: I want to be the ‘Family Doctor’ for your collection. A friendly, trusted guide offering safe, effective solutions for the health of your records. This is an open clinic, where advice from fellow audiophiles with more experience is always welcome.

Our Clinical Philosophy

When I look at a dirty record, I don’t just see dust. I hear a compromised sound and I see a stylus in distress. My mission is to provide a proper diagnosis because far too many ‘patients’ are being mistreated.

The biggest mistake a new collector makes? Putting their fingers on the playing surface. But the ‘fatal disease’ I diagnose most often? Using window or carpet cleaning solutions, just because they are “new technology”. These can destroy a record’s delicate grooves.

Doctor’s Note: When it comes to cleaning, our approach is surgical. The process involves several critical stages: solution degassing, the semi-wave deep-clean procedure, a purified distilled water rinse, and a controlled air-dry. We don’t just ‘wash’ records; we treat them.

Why such precision? Because we are dedicated to preserving that ‘analogue warmth’, uncontaminated. When a record is truly clean and played on a properly placed stereo system, something magical happens. If you close your eyes, you forget the sound comes from speakers — it becomes a living, three-dimensional stage where every instrument breathes. It’s that ‘disappearing speakers’ effect.

Our mission is to help every collector achieve that moment.
